Devfolio offers three different hackathon modes

Devfolio offers a comprehensive suite of modes to facilitate the organization of your hackathon event. There are three distinct options available:

  • Offline: This mode is tailored for hackathons that are conducted in-person.
  • Online: Specifically designed for hackathons conducted entirely over digital platforms, this mode does not incorporate any application screening process.
  • Online with Application Review: Ideal for those preferring an online hackathon but with a structured application vetting process. It is also apt for hybrid hackathons that combine both in-person and online elements.

We encourage you to select the mode that aligns best with your event's objectives and logistics.

📜 Application Review Hackathons

(Offline & Online with Application Review)

When hackers apply to these types of hackathons:

  • They submit their profile for review.
  • Organizers review and accept applicants.
  • Accepted hackers RSVP and are checked in.
  • Submissions open after check-in is complete.

🟢 Online Hackathons

For online-only hackathons (no application review), it’s simpler:

  • Hackers apply → immediately get access to submit → form/join teams → submit project by deadline.
